Unami Burger

Truffle burger with smushed (not smashed) potatoes at Umami Burger on La Brea. Yes!
850 S. La Brea in los Angeles. Simple, delicious..... just go.

Porto's Bakery & Cafe

Porto Bakery on North Brand Boulevard in Glendale. It can be a bit confusing at first since there are several lines snaking all around the place with two sides - the 'bakery' and the 'cafe'. (there is no difference other than the name). The place was jammed but according to some locals, the lines are usually out the door. After waiting for 10-15 minutes i reached the counter and ordered a potato ball, meat pie, chorizo pie (pies were more like empanadas) and a machaca wrap. Finished with a sweet guava cheese pastry. Several visits (or at least a large group) are needed to taste the extensive menu.

Dinner at Dominick's
on Beverly Drive in West Hollywood. Started with Roasted Baby Broccoli Bruschetta w/Burrata, Currants & Almonds , followed by housemade Linguine Limone w/ Roasted Chanterelle Mushrooms and Parmesan. I liked it and went back the next night for the Rice Balls w/ Mushrooms & Mozzarella, Fried Calamari, Raw Mixed Baby Kale w/ Avocado & a Smoked Tomato Vinaigrette and Grilled Hangar Steak w/ Arugula & Parmesan

Another excellent lunch at Pizzeria Mozza
Usually my first stop in LA. We shared a rucola salad, brussels sprout pizza, chanterelle pizza with some added house made sausage and a finally some of their homemade gelato (the olive oil was very tasty).
