About this blog

My mother was a great cook. My father loved to eat.
I am the Man from Pawtucket and this is my story. Here you will find a collection of observations, from Central Falls to Central Park, from Pawtucket to Paris, about Eating Well. Bon Appetit.

Why have a hamburger when you can have steak at Peter Luger?

May 24, 2009

We made a quick detour to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for steak at Peter Luger. It was well worth the trip and wait (we waited nearly an hour for a table – note to self, make a reservation ). The porterhouse was cooked perfectly – slightly charred on the outside but rare on the inside. The German fried potatoes were pretty good too.

Leo's Latticini - Mama's Lunch Menu

May 16, 2009

At the suggestion of Uncle Razz, we decided to make a detour and go to Corona to taste the kitchen at Leo’s Latticini. We ordered off Mama’s lunch menu and had a Mama’s Special (prosciuttini, salami, mozzarella, with mushrooms and peppers) and a Super Italian (prosciutto, sopresatta, cappicola and mozzarella). We enjoyed these sandwiches in Mama’s backyard café. We also took a pound of freshly made mozzarella home. And yes, Mama was there, sitting at a small table in the store.

Whoopie Pies

May 19, 2009

Lurker W made some pretty good whoopie pies on Sunday. If you're lucky enough to find his Whoopie Truck around Manhattan, buy a dozen. You won't be disappointed.

Sunday Dinner

Uncle Sammy cooked up a Rhode Island favorite for Sunday dinner - Vitello Con Piselli (Veal and Peas). A good time was had by all.
